Happy-Sad Day

Labor Day is a Happy-Sad Day for me. I’m a little verklempt since it marks the end of Vidalia onion season. This sweet southern onion puts the boring yellow onion to shame. While I know sweet onion season will begin next spring, I miss God’s perfect grilling vegetable.

The happy news is the beginning of muscadine season. Fall marks the harvest for my favorite fruit. I literally eat them by the gallon since my neighbor sells them that way. Are they infused with crack? I can’t seem to get enough. I’ll cry a little over the onions but bring on the muscadines.

P.S. If you know a great food product that is made in Alabama with either muscadines or Vidalia onions, please share the good news. Contact@alabamagoods.com. We’d love to include them in our gift packages.
